The Jon Mayer Trio
Sunday, November 10, 2019 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
SOhO, 1221 State Street, Santa Barbara CA
The Santa Barbara Jazz Society presents the exciting Jon Mayer Quartet featuring tenor saxophonist, Doug Webb, on Sunday, November 10 from 1 to 4pm at SOhO. Pianist Mayer, exposed to jazz at an early age listening to Charlie Parker, became a regular member of the thriving New York City music scene in the 50’s playing with such notables as Kenny Dorham, Jackie McLean, and John Coltrane. In the 60s and 70’s, he was working both in Europe and New York with the likes of Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra, Dianne Warwick, Sarah Vaughn, Manhattan Transfer and others. Today he remains an active jazz musician and teacher in LA. Rounding out the quartet are veteran players, bassist Will Lyle, and drummer Roy McCurdy.
