The Lolly Allen Quintet

Sunday June 3rd, 2018 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
SOhO 1221 State St # 205, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Santa Barbara Jazz Society is pleased to bring vibraphonist, Lolly Allen and her quintet to SOhO on Sunday, June 3 from 1 to 4pm. In 2016 she was the first woman to be awarded the LA Jazz Society’s Vibe Summit XXIII Honoree Award. See what Fred Bouchard of Downbeat Magazine says about Lolly, “Conjures the lanky, leisurely feel of Milt Jackson, her roomy rambles open up the spiritual spaciousness of Walt Dickerson, and her smooth flair for Latin rhythms recalls Cal Tjader.” The multi-talented Ms. Allen, who studied jazz at the New England Conservatory, has performed with well-known jazz artists around the world including Bob Mintzer, Maria Schneider, Kristen Korb and Larry Koonze. Joining her is the award winning saxophonist, Danny Janklow who has appeared with some of the modern day giants of jazz including Winton and Branford Marsalis, Benny Golson, The Bill Holman Big Band, and Jimmy Heath. Added to this star studied line up are super players, bassist Michael Alvidrez, pianist Josh Nelson, and drummer Paul Kreibich.
