Jon Mayer Quartet

Sunday April 19th, 2015 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
SOhO 1221 State St # 205, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

The Santa Barbara Jazz Society proudly presents the Jon Mayer quartet featuring Pete Christlieb on April 19 at SOhO from 1 to 5pm. New York born, now Los Angeles based pianist, Mayer began his musical career in the New York jazz scene of the 1950’s and 1960’s. A true jazz musician, he has a long and distinguished pedigree including work with Jackie McLean, John Coltrane, Kenny Dorham, Chet Baker, Tom Scott, Sarah Vaughn, Ernie Watts and the Manhattan Transfer, just to name a few. Jazz fans have been impressed with his artistry, characterized by a supple and relaxed rhythmic feel and a keen sense of melodicism in his solos. Legendary tenor player, Pete Christlieb also a jazz giant, has worked with top bands like Louie Bellson, Woody Herman, Count Basie, Bill Holman and Doc Severinson’s Tonight Show Band starring Johnny Carson. For the upcoming Santa Barbara concert he will be accompanied by veteran musicians bassist Chris Conner and drummer Roy McCurdy.
